This annual street festival prides itself on being the biggest on the West Coast. Over 400,000 carnival hunters descend on The Bay to experience San Francisco’s carnival. This event honors the local Latin American and Caribbean heritage present with the San Fran community. Inspired by the carnival giant Brazil and its troops of samba dancers, the streets of San Francisco are decorated with costumed hip shaking samba performers. Big trucks decorated as variously themed floats are also found in the organized good natured chaos of the parade’s procession. Cuisine from Latin America, the Caribbean, and other global cultures is available throughout the street parade as well.
