Every year Aalborg Carnival incites excitement ad frenzy for locals and visitors alike – 60,000
parade marchers and more than 100,000 carnival enthusiasts flock to Aalborg to soak up frenzy all round. Aalborg celebrates spring’s approach during its weeklong carnival celebrations.

Fantasy and the power of imagination are on full display in Aalborg during this time. Three main events take place each year of Aalborg’s colorful festivities: Star Parade, Battle of Carnival Bands, and Children’s Carnival. The Star Parade or Grand Parade everyone is disguised in a fun costume of their choice! Music spreads through the air the streets are packed with funny characters and more join the dancing population at each intersection. The Battle of Carnival Bands is a feature component of The International carnival. Groups from around the carnival are invited to Aalborg to represent their country and culture – after strutting through the parade the diverse groups compete, dance and perform in front a panel of judges. The children are not left out of the festivities – about 5,000 young ones dress up and march with their parents watching. The Children’s parade is led by two princess and at the end of the route they fun extends into a park where the magic and fantasy continues inside.
