Kadoonment is a Bajan term meaning a “big occasion filled with merriment and joy,” or simply put a very dope party. Where does crop over come in? In this sense crop over refers to the harvesting season of sugar cane where at the conclusion of the season there was a celebration to mark the closing of a successful harvest. Though the crop over celebrations stopped decades ago the spirit lives on today as Kadoonment Day. Music competitions run around the Crop Over festivities where world famous Soca artists compete for the best song of the carnival season. Parade day is undoubtedly most anticipated.
