During the month of September there is much to celebrate in Belize. It seems as if each week
there is a new event calling for celebration on the calendar. However, Carnival day in Belize City is most anticipated. This carnival marks the Creole influence within Belize. As it is home to a larger group of creole descendants. Belize borrows form the Trinidad Carnival model, where there is J’ouvert, a King and Queen Competition, and finally the street parade. However, Belize’s independent identity shines thorough powerfully. The colors red, white, and blue are often seen throughout the Carnival parade. The Belize Carnival takes place during Belize Independence Month. You will see the most luxurious float-size costumes mirroring the Belizean flag. And countless of other masqueraders reveling in their creole heritage and celebrating the influence of the Afro- Caribbean. All the while basking in the independence of their country.
