BOSTON CARNIVAL | MASSACHUSETTS

If you’re looking to experience a Caribbean festival in the states look no further than Boston Carnival. This landmark event has been occurring since 1973! More than 4 decades…it’s fair to say the people of Boston know what they’re doing. Boston Carnival generously offers 4 days straight of festivities leading up to the much anticipated street parade. The King & Queen Show is a competition of giant feathered
costumes. Spectators can watch these larger costumes compete while being entertained by local artists and well-known soca musicians. Party-goers gather to enjoy a delicious catered meal, stacked bar, and an excess of music. The best part is guests dress in traditional J’ouvert fare: masquerade masks or face paint, and costumes are also encouraged. The J’ouvert Parade starts bright and early at for a day of raucous partying. Unlike the cruise, this experience is on land. Attire for the parade typically includes hand-maid costumes of the participants own design. These costumes are often extremely creative and mean to elicit laughs. It all leads to the Carnival Parade, costumed and bedazzled masqueraders set out for a 1.5 mile journey of laughs, good music, and good vibes. Vendors selling music, crafts, and food are found at the conclusion of the parade.
