This German festival or “Carnival of Cultures” as it is called aims to make visible and celebrate the multicultural presence within Berlin. Established in the 90s, the purpose of the carnival was to build self empowerment for minorities within Berlin. The Carnival of Cultures todays has been embraced by not only the people of Berlin but by people from abroad. Thousands participate. Some in extravagant costumes dance throughout the parade route or those in plain streetwear no feathers or beads to stand out only their contagious energy and honest zeal shining through. Everyone comes out for Carnival of Cultures, the music, the food, and most importantly the people are too special to miss.
