Jersey City embraces its Caribbean culture during the annual West Indian & Caribbean American Carnival. A variety of carnival bands come together – each modeling a costume with a specific theme – to parade down Jersey’s streets. Lined with eager spectators the parade lasts well into the afternoon. Music trucks pumping soca music and costumed carnival junkies draw out locals and tourists to watch the parade’s procession. Into the final hours of the parade march over to the “festival village” which is located in proximity to the parade. Inside the village there’s live music from reggae to soca, international food vendors, games and activities for children, and much more!
