The small yet proud Caribbean presence in South Carolina wanted to have something for their own. Not exclusively their own, but they wanted to see themselves and their culture represented in their community. And with that South Carolina’s Carnival is born. The Caribbean street parade brings out those of Caribbean descent and others who are interested in Caribbean culture to come together to fete in South Carolina’s southern heat. Masqueraders march down store front streets in electric colors with foot tall feathers atop their heads. It’s something to see and experience, definitely.
