Antigua’s Carnival pumps 12 days straight through with no shortage of parties and festivities in between. When it comes to Antigua Barbuda Carnival there is no time for rest. Antigua’s Parade of the Bands was birthed out of Antigua’s Old Time Christmas Festival. Much of the traditions of Antigua’s Christmas Festival lent themselves to Antigua’s Carnival. Celebrations of food, dance, costumed masqueraders, and the contagious rhythms of the steel band migrated from the traditions of the Christmas Festival to colorful Antigua’s Carnival. With 12 days of Carnival celebration, Antigua has much to offer to the first time visitor or the loyal masquerader.
