Seeking to share the dynamic culture and heritage of the Caribbean, the people of Phoenix thought the only thing that could capture the unadulterated fun, unity, and good vibes that Caribbean offers was to bring carnival to Phoenix. And so they did. Inspired by the ever popular carnival model of Trinidad & Tobago, the Phoenix street parade captures the boiling energy familiar to carnival. Downtown Phoenix acts the backdrop to the parade. Vibrant colors, gyrating bodies, and bass heavy music trucks traverse through the city streets. It all ends in the Carnival Village, an area dedicated to continue the festivities started on the parade route. Inside you find the same bass heavy music, tents filled with culture goods and mouthwatering food, and those costumed masqueraders form the streets. The parade ends on the streets but the party continues inside Carnival Village.
